peri is for you if:
A proactive approach to oral health
Using a simple saliva swab, peri measures your mouth’s unique and vital microorganisms.
Based on your results, personalized and easy-to-implement product, diet, and routine recommendations are shared.
To help inform and inspire an active approach to health and future well-being from the convenience of home.
How the peri health test works:
If your teeth could talk, they would say tooth decay is the most common chronic infectious disease in the world, and gum disease affects almost 50% of Americans over the age of 30.
Why peri ?
Your mouth contains billions of unique microorganisms that, when balanced, help keep your mouth healthy. Even a small disruption in “good” bacteria can lead to symptoms like gum disease, tooth decay, and bad breath.
Genetics, lifestyle, antibiotic use, harmful oral-care products, and diet are just a few of the factors that can create an imbalance in your oral microbiome. Peri can help you understand the underlying cause of your symptoms and even predict the risk of other health diseases.
Simply put, dental health is overall health.
Mouth bacteria has been linked to:
Heart disease
Diabetes
Alzheimer’s
Rheumatoid arthritis
Pregnancy and fertility issues
Inflammatory bowel disease
Cancer

Your kit includes a small container to collect your spit, a funnel, how-to instructions, and a pre-paid return shipping label and envelope.
Once you send in your sample, our lab analyzes the bacteria. We upload your results onto a portal for you to view, print or even share with your dentist.
Once shipped to our lab, it typically takes 7-10 days to get your results. You will receive an email notification when your results are available to view.
Great question. We are testing for the bacteria that specifically cause gum disease, tooth decay, as well as protective oral bacteria. Some of these bacteria are known to be involved in other systemic diseases like heart disease, diabetes, cancer, dementia and Alzheimer’s, and chronic inflammation. If we can reduce the amount of “bad” bacteria in your mouth and boost your “good” bacteria, we can help improve your oral health and prevent some of the other diseases too!
In short, everyone! Those who are high risk, those who have a family history of disease, those who haven’t been to the dentist in a while, those who don’t have access to a dentist, those who don’t have dental insurance, those who always go to the dentist and still get cavities, those who have bleeding gums, those who are just curious, test your kids, test your parents, test your grandparents, test your cats and dogs (ok, that’s going too far).
At peri, we still recommend you go to your regular check-up visits at your dentist.
